Does Music Training Prolong Your Life?

As one of the four subjects of the quadrivum, the others being; Arithmetic, Geometry & Astronomy, music does have its importance. With the quadrivium considered to be the study of number and its' relationship to physical space or time, the study of music is the study of number in time, or as an applied number. Therefore the study of music has always been regarded highly. This article from Science Daily argues that the study of music has an extra beneficiary, in that it may have a beneficial biological impact on the aging process. The article, as a result, infers that studying music, in the manner of the quadrivium, would be beneficiary in maintaining neural responses. Read the article by clicking here...

Carved Book Landscapes

An article from Thisiscollosal shows the intriguing art of Guy Laramee who has carved landscapes out of books. Here's a little from the artist:

So I carve landscapes out of books and I paint Romantic landscapes. Mountains of disused knowledge return to what they really are: mountains. They erode a bit more and they become hills. Then they flatten and become fields where apparently nothing is happening. Piles of obsolete encyclopedias return to that which does not need to say anything, that which simply IS. Fogs and clouds erase everything we know, everything we think we are.

Robot Food!

Oh dear Obama's permitted the deregulation of more GM crops! Why is this bad? because it paves the way for GM companies such as Monsanto to have a monopoly on food. Even the 'whole foods' stores in america are submitting to the pressures of allowing the sale of GM crops in their shops! It seems like we won't be able to have the option of eating natural food soon enough! http://www.truth-out.org/obama-deregulates-gmo-crops-despite-supreme-court-injunction/1307023149
